The Idaho Commission on the Arts has awarded Rita Hutchens Quilt Artist, Author and Teacher from Sandpoint , Idaho an Honorable Mention Visual Arts Fellowship.

Although this is presently not a funded award, it is a means to honor those artists who received high scores from the panelists.  In an effort to keep Idaho a vital place for artists to live and work, Honorable Mention Fellowships are awarded in recognition of outstanding work.  The award is based strictly on the artistic excellence, integrity, and demonstrated professional commitment of the applicant.  The Fellowship is not tied to a specific project.  The award is intended to reward artistic excellence, to promote public awareness, and to advance the careers of Idaho artists. 

Award recipients are invited to participate in the Fellowship Exhibition that will be touring in 2005-2006 to four sites throughout Idaho including Boise , Idaho Falls, Moscow , and Coeur d’Alene .  

This Award is made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Idaho State Legislature.
